I am afraid
Fear is a normal human response. Scripture does not say "do not feel afraid" as a scolding. It says it as a promise: I am with you.
What God's word says
10Don’t you be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness.
4Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me. Your rod and your staff, they comfort me.
3When I am afraid, I will put my trust in you. 4In God, I praise his word. In God, I put my trust. I will not be afraid. What can flesh do to me?
9Haven’t I commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Don’t be afraid. Don’t be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.”
7For God didn’t give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control.

A prayer you can pray
Lord, I am afraid, and I am telling you so. Be near me. Remind me that you are with me in this and that you hold me. Give me courage for today. Amen.
A next step
Name the fear out loud to God, and then to one person you trust. Fear grows in secret and shrinks when shared.
